Win Wedding Photos Wednesday

I usually don’t do this kind of thing, but this time I couldn’t resist. My friend, Aaron, is currently serving our country over in Afghanistan and has a chance to win wedding photos when he returns from being on duty. All you have to do is visit the Photographic Memories Facebook page HERE, like their page then click on Aaron and Amanda’s picture, HERE, and like it. That’s it. Two clicks and you’ve given the gift of wedding photos to one of our very own who is giving his time to serve out country. So in the spirt of the holidays please take a few seconds to slow down and vote for Aaron and Amanda. Thank you!

Meet Me Monday: The Proposal

I told you last week that I would share my proposal story with you, so here we go!

It was Friday, October 28 and I was preparing for a super fun client halloween party. Blair was headed to Pennsylvania for business and was going to stop though Tulsa about 11:00 to have lunch with me and the girls from the office. Needless to say I got a phone call about 9:15 to ask if I didn’t mind picking him up, his morning meeting got canceled and he got on an earlier flight. He told me a friend of ours, that we went to college with, was on the flight to come into town for the homecoming game. He said our friend got a rental car, so Blair rode with him to TU so he would be closer to my office. (We met in college, you can read that here.) Needless to say I was a little irritated that he came in to town early and didn’t give me a heads up to rearrange my plans to get him. He told me not to rush, but just to let him know when I was close to campus (one reason I love this man; he is patient with my work schedule). As I got close to campus he told me that he ran into some Thetas, and since he had his bags they invited him in to the house so I needed to go there to get him. I told him I was almost there and asked if he could come out and get in my car, but he persuaded me to come me for a minute. (If I hadn’t been in a hurry and wasn’t thinking about the girls in the house that would want to say hi and chat I may have figured out something was fishy… but I didn’t.) I parked my car in front of the house and hurried to the door. As I knocked on the door it opened, which was odd… low and behold there was Blair – standing alone. I think I may have given him the irritated “get your bags, let’s go” look while saying hiiiii…, but he just smiled and gave he a big hug. He told me that he loved me and he had missed me, then reminded me we were standing in the first place we ever met nearly 5 years earlier. He also said he knew then there was something about me. Before I could get my bearings the man of my dreams was on his knee asking me if I would marry him! I think I may have said “are you serious?!” He held out the ring box, wide open with a perfect ring, and said “Christina.” Stunned and shocked that he actually pulled off a surprise without me catching on (I despise surprises and am sometimes nosey to avoid them) I said, “YES!” and he put my new shiny ring on my finger! We were engaged, I had a fiance and so many questions; does my mom know you’re here, do you really have a business meeting in Pennsylvania.. oh my gosh!

Needless to say there was no early meeting that was canceled and no meeting out of town, there was no friend of ours on the plane (he caught a taxi) and he went up the the Theta house and knocked on the door by himself. Since he has the best luck my Great Grand Little, Lauren, opened the door and because she knew me didn’t question him when he said “Can I come inside to proposed to my girlfriend, she’s on her way here.” He knew if he had a big speech I would have figured it out, and he knew to catch me off guard while I was thinking about putting on the perfect event for work. He had known he was going to propose on October 25 for an entire year! October 25, 2010 was the first time we talked about spending forever together, this guy remembers it all! He asked my mom for permission two weeks before and she didn’t say a word! He thought about everything! He even stalked my PinterestGirls Best Friends” board for the perfect ring and Bailey Banks & Biddle helped him put the perfect setting and stone together!

Our weekend was full of fun celebrations with the girls in the Zinke office, my family, our friends and the homecoming football game at our alma mater! Yes, he even went with me to set up, and clean up, my fun client Halloween party! I am so excited to marry the most amazing man and my soul mate on September 15, 2012. God is so good and knows what He is doing every step of the way!  I can’t wait to share our wedding journey with you all; next week I go dress shopping!

A Food Inspired Fall Wedding

I know Thanksgiving was just last week, but I had a migraine so bad that I didn’t get to enjoy a big Thanksgiving feast. While my hips are thanking me for the lack of added inches my mind is still thinking of all that sounds scrumptious! Instead of feeding my tummy I’m feeding my eyes today with this food inspired fall wedding. Doesn’t this vanilla roasted fruit bruschetta look amazing! It is the perfect color palate for a fabulous fall wedding. The trees in this yard make the perfect aisle; I am in love with the color orange on the leaves. This bouquet has the perfect blend of fun texture and fall inspired color, and Monique Lhuillier picked the most amazing coral color for this bridesmaid dress. Go simple with the invitation and linens; a piece of twine will go a long way as a subtle detail. Don’t forget to have your photographer snap some quite pictures of you and your new groom to remember the fabulous fall day.

Real Wedding: Sarahbeth & Taylor

It’s time for part 2 of Sarahbeth and Taylor’s wedding! We loved all of the detail pictures from WALT BEAZLEY of JAMES WALTON PHOTOGRAPHY that we couldn’t narrow it down to just a few images. So here it is, the reception! After the happy couple said i do they invited all of their friends and family to THE MAYO HOTEL for a night of celebration. The flowers on the cake and lovely floral arrangements were from THE FRENCH BOUQUET TULSA and matched the linens perfectly. ICING ON THE TOP created this gorgeous, four tiered cake for the bride and two tiered chocolate cake for the groom. Sarahbeth designed Taylor’s cake and knew she must include Daisy, Taylor’s chocolate lab, as the topper; Taylor loved it! After a night of food, dancing and fun the couple said goodnight by exiting the building surrounded by flutter confetti! Sarahbeth and Taylor spent a week in wine country as their first week as Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Pipkin! Thank you to all of the wonderful vendors who helped make their day so special. Most of all thank you Sarahbeth, Taylor and your family and friends! Congratulations again!

Real Wedding: Sarahbeth & Taylor

Yesterday we posted THIS fun rehearsal dinner, and today is the long awaited wedding! You may remember THIS inspiration board for Sarahbeth and Taylor’s special day and today we get to show you to final product. If you have been following the blog you know that Sarahbeth is the perfect southern bride with soft, vintage taste. My first design meeting with her was quite funny now that I think about it; she was loving bright coral, lime green and purple. Needless to say we softened the colors and she loved it! Anne Marie Foy of THE FRENCH BOUQUET TULSA was great to work with for all of the florals. Sarahbeth’s bridal bouquet brought happy tears to eyes, and the bridesmaids bouquets were smaller versions of Sarahbeth’s. With soft grey and champagne colored bridal party dresses, and black tuxes for the gentlemen the wedding party was stunning. NIKKI OVERLAND with MAKEUP BY NICOLE did the girls makeup and they all looked gorgeous! OLD URBAN TROLLEY was the perfect form of transportation to get this large bridal party to the church on time, and we can’t forget WALT BEAZLEY of JAMES WALTON PHOTOGRAPHY. Thank you Walt for these incredible images. Also, we would like to thank the generous staff and officiant at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, DOWNTOWN TULSA. With so many great photos this is only part 1 of this gorgeous wedding. We’ll be back this afternoon with part 2: the reception at THE MAYO HOTEL!

Real Wedding: Sarah Beth & Brian

You may remember THIS adorable couple that we blogged about a few weeks ago. I can now introduce them to you as Mr. and Mrs. Leedy. As you can tell from the pictures they have the best personalities. Sarah Beth & Brian’s reception was one for the record books. The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame was a blanket of white with bright pops of color in the flowers and lighting. Anne Marie Foy from The French Bouquet created gorgeous floral masterpieces for the event and Montag Photography caught the evening in images. How about these super fun and chic cakes from Icing on the Top. No Oklahoma State alumni wedding is complete without Boone Pickens Stadium and an appearance by Pistole Pete himself. Thank you to all of the vendors who helped make Sarah Beth and Brian’s wedding a huge success. Thank you again to our happy couple, it was a pleasure to work with you to plan your special day. You can see more image on the ZINKE DESIGN Facebook fan page.
