Win Wedding Photos Wednesday

I usually don’t do this kind of thing, but this time I couldn’t resist. My friend, Aaron, is currently serving our country over in Afghanistan and has a chance to win wedding photos when he returns from being on duty. All you have to do is visit the Photographic Memories Facebook page HERE, like their page then click on Aaron and Amanda’s picture, HERE, and like it. That’s it. Two clicks and you’ve given the gift of wedding photos to one of our very own who is giving his time to serve out country. So in the spirt of the holidays please take a few seconds to slow down and vote for Aaron and Amanda. Thank you!

Meet Me Monday: The Proposal

I told you last week that I would share my proposal story with you, so here we go!

It was Friday, October 28 and I was preparing for a super fun client halloween party. Blair was headed to Pennsylvania for business and was going to stop though Tulsa about 11:00 to have lunch with me and the girls from the office. Needless to say I got a phone call about 9:15 to ask if I didn’t mind picking him up, his morning meeting got canceled and he got on an earlier flight. He told me a friend of ours, that we went to college with, was on the flight to come into town for the homecoming game. He said our friend got a rental car, so Blair rode with him to TU so he would be closer to my office. (We met in college, you can read that here.) Needless to say I was a little irritated that he came in to town early and didn’t give me a heads up to rearrange my plans to get him. He told me not to rush, but just to let him know when I was close to campus (one reason I love this man; he is patient with my work schedule). As I got close to campus he told me that he ran into some Thetas, and since he had his bags they invited him in to the house so I needed to go there to get him. I told him I was almost there and asked if he could come out and get in my car, but he persuaded me to come me for a minute. (If I hadn’t been in a hurry and wasn’t thinking about the girls in the house that would want to say hi and chat I may have figured out something was fishy… but I didn’t.) I parked my car in front of the house and hurried to the door. As I knocked on the door it opened, which was odd… low and behold there was Blair – standing alone. I think I may have given him the irritated “get your bags, let’s go” look while saying hiiiii…, but he just smiled and gave he a big hug. He told me that he loved me and he had missed me, then reminded me we were standing in the first place we ever met nearly 5 years earlier. He also said he knew then there was something about me. Before I could get my bearings the man of my dreams was on his knee asking me if I would marry him! I think I may have said “are you serious?!” He held out the ring box, wide open with a perfect ring, and said “Christina.” Stunned and shocked that he actually pulled off a surprise without me catching on (I despise surprises and am sometimes nosey to avoid them) I said, “YES!” and he put my new shiny ring on my finger! We were engaged, I had a fiance and so many questions; does my mom know you’re here, do you really have a business meeting in Pennsylvania.. oh my gosh!

Needless to say there was no early meeting that was canceled and no meeting out of town, there was no friend of ours on the plane (he caught a taxi) and he went up the the Theta house and knocked on the door by himself. Since he has the best luck my Great Grand Little, Lauren, opened the door and because she knew me didn’t question him when he said “Can I come inside to proposed to my girlfriend, she’s on her way here.” He knew if he had a big speech I would have figured it out, and he knew to catch me off guard while I was thinking about putting on the perfect event for work. He had known he was going to propose on October 25 for an entire year! October 25, 2010 was the first time we talked about spending forever together, this guy remembers it all! He asked my mom for permission two weeks before and she didn’t say a word! He thought about everything! He even stalked my PinterestGirls Best Friends” board for the perfect ring and Bailey Banks & Biddle helped him put the perfect setting and stone together!

Our weekend was full of fun celebrations with the girls in the Zinke office, my family, our friends and the homecoming football game at our alma mater! Yes, he even went with me to set up, and clean up, my fun client Halloween party! I am so excited to marry the most amazing man and my soul mate on September 15, 2012. God is so good and knows what He is doing every step of the way!  I can’t wait to share our wedding journey with you all; next week I go dress shopping!

A Food Inspired Fall Wedding

I know Thanksgiving was just last week, but I had a migraine so bad that I didn’t get to enjoy a big Thanksgiving feast. While my hips are thanking me for the lack of added inches my mind is still thinking of all that sounds scrumptious! Instead of feeding my tummy I’m feeding my eyes today with this food inspired fall wedding. Doesn’t this vanilla roasted fruit bruschetta look amazing! It is the perfect color palate for a fabulous fall wedding. The trees in this yard make the perfect aisle; I am in love with the color orange on the leaves. This bouquet has the perfect blend of fun texture and fall inspired color, and Monique Lhuillier picked the most amazing coral color for this bridesmaid dress. Go simple with the invitation and linens; a piece of twine will go a long way as a subtle detail. Don’t forget to have your photographer snap some quite pictures of you and your new groom to remember the fabulous fall day.

Every Love Story

With the combination of a light drizzle and cooler temperatures here in Tulsa I knew where to find today’s inspiration. I love how every love story is different and non-traditional brides are taking charge of their day. The non-traditional feel of this board from the redhead bride to seafoam color bridesmaid dress is stunning. With brides stepping outside of the box I’m a big fan of this iced, chocolate cake and opal ring. Opt for a natural feeling bouquet in pinks and reds with a sweet ribbon tied around the stems. Carry the floral look over to the tables for the centerpieces. Make your grand exit in a vintage car with your man. I couldn’t resist including this good looking man in today’s post; hey why not?!

Real Bride: Jen

It seemed fitting that for today’s Trousseau Tuesday we feature our Zinke East Coast Sales Rep, Jen and her bridal portraits! What most people don’t know is the gown she wore for her bridal portrait session was not the same gown she got married in. Rewind three and a half weeks to wedding day; Jen’s bridal portrait day: The Oklahoma heat was in full force, even at 6:00am, and Josh McCullock was snapping away! Shannon Schroeder did Jen’s makeup and Ashley from Jara Herron Salon and Spa did Jen’s hair. We were rockin’ and rollin’ and having a great time! Needless to say the bottom of Jen’s dress got a little dirty from her Aunt Betsy’s backyard and tennis court. No biggie, the cleaners will be able to get that right out. Jen took the dress to be cleaned and they told her it would be ready in one short week. Fast forward one week: It was a Friday morning, two weeks before the wedding, and the office was buzzing with events, apparel meetings and Jen’s phone was ringing off the hook. Next thing you know I am looking up with Jen in front of me, her face in a state of shock as the words “they ruined my dress” come out of her mouth. I jump to my feet ready to take on whatever is to come. In short the dress was completely ruined by the chemical process it took to clean the dress; Jen was in tears and without her custom dream wedding gown. As soon as Jen was off the phone I was on the phone with Gabriella’s New York Bridal Salon, where the dress was purchased, as she told the rest of the Zinke girls what had happened. Jen’s maid of honor had already been in touch with the salon to give them a heads up of the situation. In the midst of preparing for hurricane Rita in New York, Leah Jen’s sales rep was awesome! She emailed me the measurement sheet complete with 17 measurements for Jen and I to fill out. I officially added seamstress to my bridal coordination resume and we got the measurements right back to Leah in NYC. The dress that took 6 weeks to make was now going to be rushed into production and back to Jen in Oklahoma in one week! Yes, we looked into plan B dresses just in case, but it wasn’t necessary. Even with NYC shut down the dress entered production, and arrived via expedited shipping on September 1, nine days before Jen’s wedding. She rushed to the tailor in Tulsa, OK to alter any last minute fitting needs and Jen was headed out of town to St. Louis for the weekend. She returned to Tulsa, picked up her dress the week of the wedding and it fit like a glove! I told Jen I had never been in this situation before, but we would get through it! Sure enough, we did and you would have never known the difference – outside of the high stress situation. A big thank you goes to Gabriella Bridal Salon for their quick response to recreate Jen’s dress and to Shannon, Ashley and Josh for being Jen’s bridal dream team! Here are a few of Jen’s bridal portraits and a sneak peek (from my phone camera) of Jen and her new husband, Steve, on their wedding day! We are so glad she is relaxing on the beach now; she deserves it!

Modern Minimalist

We asked what you would like to see on the blog, and here it is! Today’s inspiration came from Courtney who said she would like to see something modern and minimalistic. I absolutely love this inspiration for the city bride. This courtyard with a gold wall and concrete floor give the color palate for the event; gold and taupe. Begin by sending out fun invitations with gold foil details; pick a fun font to set the tone. Set out white chairs for the ceremony and the ceremony decorations are complete. The reception building has beautiful ceilings that only need minimal decorations. String neutral color feathers and stringer lights across the ceiling for a modern twist. With a fun ceiling installation minimal table decorations are needed; use neutral linens, organic chargers, simple gold flatware and small groups of white flowers to complete the look. Incorporate gold rims on the cocktail glasses, cover the grooms cake in edible gold and decorate the brides cake with gold details. With an event like this the bride should have a fun dress (at least for the reception) and a beautiful white bouquet. What would you add to this event?

A Field of Lavender

I love that summer is on the downslope and the weather should be cooling down soon (fingers crossed). The reason I love cooler weather is because that means outside weddings again. In Oklahoma there are only a couple of times a year to have a wedding outside; in between the snow and rain, and in between the heat and fall leaves. In preparation for outside wedding weather I am drawing my inspiration from gorgeous wildflowers and lavender today. The color is soft, not obtrusive, and fits with an outside wedding perfectly. I love the bridesmaids bouquets of soft, white wildflowers and how the table decor is simple lavender. How precious is this photo-op of the flower girl in a lavender field! I don’t think that will happen in Oklahoma anytime soon, so add lavender and rosemary to your cake and sprigs of lavender to the ring bearer pillow.Could it be possible to find a more perfect bridal gown for this wedding; it’s simple but gorgeous. The lace on the back is incredible and the silhouette is perfect! What would you add to this wedding?
