Win Wedding Photos Wednesday

I usually don’t do this kind of thing, but this time I couldn’t resist. My friend, Aaron, is currently serving our country over in Afghanistan and has a chance to win wedding photos when he returns from being on duty. All you have to do is visit the Photographic Memories Facebook page HERE, like their page then click on Aaron and Amanda’s picture, HERE, and like it. That’s it. Two clicks and you’ve given the gift of wedding photos to one of our very own who is giving his time to serve out country. So in the spirt of the holidays please take a few seconds to slow down and vote for Aaron and Amanda. Thank you!

Candy Canes & Christmas

Christmas is right around  the corner and I am not even close to finished shopping! Instead of stressing out I am thinking of everything sweet about Christmas!  Candy canes, chocolate, ornaments and pretty packages wrapped with bows, what else could be better? Sing a few carols with friends and kiss your sweetie under some mistletoe… or just because. What are you favorite things about this time of year? I would love for you to share!

Piled Packages

Yes, this is me today… well, this week. I absolutely love the holidays, my job and everything that has a bow, but right now my desk needs tending to and I need some elves. My desk is piled high with papers and files in preparation for my last event of 2011 and events to begin 2012. I have had zero time to shop for Christmas except for the two gifts I have purchased off line, one that was a complete fail (sorry to my fiance). So, while I am hiding behind fabulous events all wrapped with pretty, unique bows can I find an elf to do my christmas shopping for me? I promise I will be back as soon as I can. If there isn’t a blog post tomorrow you will NOT want to miss Monday! I promise to post something good! Something so good it’s better than smores in the fireplace or extra sprinkles on your favorite cupcake (yes, it really is that good)! Happy Holidays!

A Snowman Birthday Party

This morning on Facebook I asked, “Would you rather be a snowman or gingerbread man?” and it seems snowman was the favorite. I started out thinking of a sophisticated snowman party with fun evening gowns and pretty china, but then I saw this adorable tutu! Let’s face it nothing is better than a tutu, so I switched gears to a kiddo friendly birthday party! Change out your traditional holiday wreath to a fun snowman for your front door and hang some adorable snowman paper garland. For centerpieces turn ornaments into snowman and fill a glass jar. Kids love yummy goodies, theme them for the party and your set! Who doesn’t love cake; these cakeballs are the perfect bit size portion. Set up a hot chocolate station with “snowman arms,” “coal eyes,” “carrot noses,” and peppermint buttons” for an extra fun touch. For the birthday girl decorate her chair with a snowman slip cover and dress her in this precious tutu. Since I don’t have any kids does anyone have a kid I can borrow to throw them a snowman party?

Happy Holidays!

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Inspired Event

Who says the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show can’t inspire a girl to more than just hitting the gym a few extra hours? The Passion segment opened and the bold, beautiful colors were perfect! (See the inspiration video here.)When angel Candice Swanepoel hit the runway in this piece that was hand embroidered in India I fell in love! It is the perfect blend of bright and feminine, what girl wouldn’t want a party themed after the most expensive piece in the show? I would start by sending out a feminine invitation with a neon accent and envelope liner. I would also enclose some fun neon confetti for guests to know they are bound for a fun time! If you’re looking for a neon DIY look these mason jars are perfect and 100 Layer Cake even walks you though how to make them here. Since Brooklyn Bride posted this fabulous neon tablescape September 12 I have been looking for a way to incorporate it into a blog! I love the lime runner and hot pink and orange accents on the plates and banquette. Make fun place cards with neon colored pencils, and don’t forget to set you cake on a bright cake stand. You could even put a fun flower on your cake for it to look like Candice’s shoes! Don’t forget that you’re the host and you must dress to impress. While I’m not suggesting you have a hand embroidered piece sent to you front India, try a statement necklace to tie you into your event. All you have left to do is have a happy VS Fashion Show inspired event!

What’s A Girl To Do About Her Shoes?

As many of you know I recently got engaged! It’s so fun to personally walk though what I have walked so many of my brides through. It’s also fun to do fun things with my mom like pick out my dress, look for shoes, and much more! (I can’t share too many details with you because my future Mr. likes to read my blog, hi hunny!) So, last night I was pinning on my Pinterest page and low and behold it was like an extra ray of sunshine came from a gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin’s! I knew I had to hunt them down and have them for my special day. To be honest I’ve never had a pair of Louboutin’s and I definitely do not want to order the wrong size so this morning I went to Twitter with sizing questions. Of course the shoe fairy failed to make every shoe fit true to size, and what really is my shoe size? So, I’ve come up with a few tips for finding shoes for your special day.

  1. Get your dress first. This will allow you to see what style would go best with your attire. If your dress is satin and form fitted you may not want shoes with an obnoxious bow – it may get caught on the front of your gown when you walk.
  2. Research! Do you want flats, boots, strappy heals, sling back heels, platforms? Do you want a color, texture or pattern?
  3. Try your shoes on! As I said the shoe fairy did not make every shoe fit the same. While some sites like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus have size guides you want to make sure your shoes fit and are comfortable. You are the bride and you will not get to sit down for very long on your wedding day. If you will be dancing well into the night you want to make sure that beauty isn’t too much pain.
  4. Take your shoes to your dress fitting. Nothing is worse than using a pair of shoes at the dress store because they “look close to your shoes” and chopping off too much of your dress.

Just like your dress, jewelry and bouquet your shoes are as much of your wedding day look as anything else. Don’t rush into a decision, order them off line to receive them just in the knick of time – all for them to fit wrong.

Happy shoe shopping!

A Food Inspired Fall Wedding

I know Thanksgiving was just last week, but I had a migraine so bad that I didn’t get to enjoy a big Thanksgiving feast. While my hips are thanking me for the lack of added inches my mind is still thinking of all that sounds scrumptious! Instead of feeding my tummy I’m feeding my eyes today with this food inspired fall wedding. Doesn’t this vanilla roasted fruit bruschetta look amazing! It is the perfect color palate for a fabulous fall wedding. The trees in this yard make the perfect aisle; I am in love with the color orange on the leaves. This bouquet has the perfect blend of fun texture and fall inspired color, and Monique Lhuillier picked the most amazing coral color for this bridesmaid dress. Go simple with the invitation and linens; a piece of twine will go a long way as a subtle detail. Don’t forget to have your photographer snap some quite pictures of you and your new groom to remember the fabulous fall day.
